Good news today for anybody concerned about the amount of information the Land Registry sells to anybody online. Today they have announced that scanned mortgage deeds will no longer be available from the online service following reports of fraudsters having used the documents to transfer property away from the legitimate owners. It’s not everything that is being removed though – the register will still be partially available, so we’ll have to see if further down the line the service is again further restricted over security concerns.
